ACTRESS AND FREQUENT Sia collaborator Maddie Ziegler is a teenage girl with an unexpected crisis in the trailer for Fitting In. The film, from writer and director Molly McGlynn, stars Ziegler as a 16 year old who has been diagnosed with MRKH syndrome.

The movie co-stars Emily Hampshire, Djouliet Amara, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, and Ki Griffin, and was notably produced by Janelle Monae, among others. It will open in theaters on Feb. 2.

The official synopsis notes, “A joyful, comedic drama, from writer/director Molly McGlynn, Fitting In is a coming-of-age story that follows 16-year-old Lindy (Maddie Ziegler) who is unexpectedly diagnosed with a reproductive condition, MRKH syndrome. The diagnosis upends her plans to have sex, her presumptions about womanhood and sexuality, her relationship with her mother, and most importantly, herself.”

Ziegler got her start on Lifetime’s reality show Dance Moms before being tapped by Sia to appear in numerous music videos and live performances. She notably starred in the videos for “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart,” as well as the more recent clip for Sia’s song “Together.” She has been in several movies and TV series, including Spielberg’s West Side Story. She also co-starred with Jenna Ortega in The Fallout, which arrived on HBO Max last year.

Monae, who played dual roles in 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, released her latest LP The Age of Pleasure earlier this year. She will play Josephine Baker in forthcoming series De La Resistance.
